Signs you need this repair

  • Died straight after a spill or a drop in water
  • Worked for a few days after drying out, then failed
  • Keyboard keys, speakers or charging stopped one by one
  • Turns on but gets hot or drains the battery overnight
  • Green or white crust visible around a port

What actually goes wrong

Drying a device out is not the same as repairing it. Liquid leaves minerals and sugars behind, and with power on the board those residues keep corroding joints and components — often under metal shields where nobody can see. That is why so many liquid-damaged devices work for a week and then die.

A proper liquid-damage repair strips the board out, removes the shields, and cleans it in an ultrasonic bath to lift the residue from under the components. Then it goes under the microscope: every corroded part is replaced, every trace the corrosion has eaten is rebuilt, and each power rail is checked before the board is powered up again.

Speed matters more than anything. Switch the device off, do not charge it, and do not put it in rice — rice does nothing about the residue and costs days while corrosion carries on. Coffee, juice, fizzy drinks and sea water are all worse than tap water, because they leave more behind.

Questions about this repair

Should I put my wet phone in rice?

▼
No. Rice does not remove the residue that causes corrosion, and every day it sits there the corrosion carries on. Switch it off, do not charge it, and get it to a workshop that can clean the board properly.

Can a liquid-damaged device be saved after it has stopped working?

▼
Often, yes — especially if it has not been charged or left powered since the spill. Board-level repairs are price on application — you get a fixed quote once we know what has failed, and nothing is done until you agree it.
