The most common dead-card fault is a shorted power stage on the card's voltage regulator, often after a power-supply problem or a sudden load spike. A short on the main supply stops the PC starting at all with the card fitted. We find the failed stage with a bench supply and thermal camera, replace it, and check the controller driving it before the card goes anywhere near a PC.
The 16-pin 12VHPWR and 12V-2x6 connectors on high-end RTX cards can melt when a plug is not fully seated or a cable is bent hard against it. If the damage stops at the connector, it can be replaced and the pads beneath it rebuilt. We inspect the traces and fuses behind it too, because sending a card back with a hidden fault would only move the problem.
Artifacts and crashes under load can mean a failing memory chip. We test to find which one, and VRAM replacement is possible on many cards — but it is specialist work with honest limits, and if the graphics processor itself has failed the card may not be economical to repair. You get that answer before any work is done.
Physical damage is the other big category: components knocked off near the PCIe slot during shipping, a cracked PCB, a damaged PCIe connector, or a torn video output. Most of it is repairable if the board layers themselves are not broken through.
