LCD or OLED — which do you have?

Steam Deck LCD (2022)

7-inch 1280×800 LCD, 40Wh battery, 64GB eMMC / 256GB / 512GB NVMe. If you bought it before November 2023, it is this one. Screen and battery parts are specific to it.

Steam Deck OLED (2023)

7.4-inch HDR OLED, 50Wh battery, revised cooling and Wi-Fi 6E. Larger screen in the same shell. LCD parts do not fit — a quote based on LCD pricing is a quote for a different machine.

Not sure? Send it in and we will identify it during the free diagnostic — you do not need to work it out before booking.

Steam Deck repair FAQs

Do you repair the OLED Steam Deck as well as the LCD?

Both. They are genuinely different machines inside — Valve changed the display, the battery, the Wi-Fi module and the cooling — so parts are not interchangeable and we confirm which one you have before ordering anything. There is a dedicated page for OLED-specific work.

Can I post my Steam Deck to you?

Yes, and most of the Decks we repair arrive that way. Our mail-in service is free both ways and covers the whole UK — you send it in, we diagnose it and quote before any work, and it comes back tracked and insured. You do not need to be anywhere near Newcastle.

How much does a Steam Deck repair cost?

It depends on the fault and the variant, so we run a free diagnostic and give you a fixed quote before any work starts. We do not publish flat rates that change once the device is open, and if we cannot fix it there is no fee.

Will repairing it void my Valve warranty?

If your Deck is still inside Valve’s warranty, talk to Valve first — we will tell you that rather than take the job. Valve designed the Deck to be user-serviceable and sells parts through iFixit, but an out-of-warranty third-party repair is still a third-party repair, and you should know that before you decide.

I tried fixing it myself and made it worse. Can you still help?

Almost always, yes, and there is no lecture attached. The Deck is a repairable device and attempting it is reasonable. Send it in with any parts and screws you have left over and we will tell you honestly what it needs.

How long will it take?

Cleaning, thermal service and stick modules are usually quick once the Deck is with us. Screens, OLED panels and shell transfers take longer because they are full teardowns and the parts are variant-specific. You get a realistic timeframe with your quote, not an optimistic one.
