Signs you need this repair

  • No light and no beep when the power button is pressed
  • Beeps once, the light flashes, then it switches off
  • Blue light pulses but never turns white, and nothing on screen
  • Shut off during a game and will not come back on
  • Burning smell or a pop before it died

What actually goes wrong

A PS5 that will not turn on has three likely causes, and they are very different repairs. The internal power supply can fail outright. A component on the motherboard can fail short and make the console shut itself down the instant it tries to start. Or the console is powering up but cannot boot, which shows as the blue light that never turns white.

We start with the power supply, because it is a self-contained unit and the simplest of the three to prove. If it is healthy, the board is checked for a short on its supply rails. A beep followed by an immediate shutdown is the classic sign of one — the console is protecting itself. The shorted part is found and replaced under the microscope.

The pulsing blue light is not always hardware. A corrupted system update or database can cause it, and Safe Mode's rebuild and reinstall options fix that without opening the console. When they do not, the fault is on the board — often around the processor, the memory or, on consoles that have been stood on their side for years, liquid metal that has escaped its seal.

Everything is done in-house, including the board-level work. We confirm which of the three you have before quoting, so you are not paying for a power supply when the fault is a capacitor, or the other way round.
