Which model do you have?

PS5 (launch, 2020–2023)

The original CFI-10xx through CFI-12xx boards. Heaviest of the range, and the one that most often arrives with dust-clogged heatsinks and dried liquid metal, simply because it has had the most years to accumulate both.

PS5 Slim (2023)

Smaller chassis, revised internal layout and a detachable disc drive. The parts are not shared with the launch consoles, so the board and port work differs — we confirm the revision before ordering anything.

PS5 Pro (2024)

Larger APU, revised cooling and a different board again. Runs hotter under load by design, which puts more emphasis on the thermal side of the machine staying in good order.

Not sure which revision you have? Send it in and we will identify it during the free diagnostic — you do not need to work it out before booking.

PS5 repair FAQs

How much does a PS5 HDMI port repair cost?

It depends on whether the port alone has failed or the damage has reached the board underneath, so we run a free diagnostic and give you a fixed quote before any work starts. A clean port replacement is straightforward; a port that has torn pads off the board is a bigger job. You will know which one you have before you commit to anything, and if we cannot fix it there is no fee.

Can you fix a PS5 with no picture but sound still working?

Yes, and that specific combination usually points at the HDMI port or the HDMI encoder chip rather than the console being dead. It is one of the most common faults we see. The diagnostic separates a failed port from a failed encoder IC, because they are different repairs at different prices.

Is liquid metal replacement actually necessary?

Not on every console, and we will not sell you one you do not need. Sony used liquid metal as the thermal interface on the PS5 APU, and on some units it migrates or dries out over years of heat cycling — which shows up as fan noise, thermal shutdowns and throttling. If your console is running quietly and cool, leave it alone. If it is screaming or shutting down, this is very often the cause.

Do you open the console yourself or send it away?

Everything is done in our own workshop, including board-level micro-soldering under a microscope. Nothing gets posted on to a third party, which is how we keep the turnaround honest and the quote fixed.

Will opening my PS5 void the Sony warranty?

If your console is still inside Sony’s warranty, go to Sony first — we will tell you that rather than take the job. Once it is out of warranty, a third-party repair is your call, and this is what we do.

Can I post my PS5 to you?

Yes. Our mail-in service covers the whole UK and is free both ways, tracked and insured. You do not need to be anywhere near Newcastle — we diagnose it, quote before any work, and send it back.
