Signs you need this repair

  • No charging icon with a known-good official charger
  • Will not turn on at all, even after hours on charge
  • Charges in handheld but the dock will not output to the TV
  • Died after using a third-party dock or charger
  • USB-C port loose, bent or burnt

What actually goes wrong

The Switch charges and connects to its dock through one USB-C port soldered straight to the board. Behind it sit two chips that fail more than anything else in the console: the power-delivery controller, which negotiates with the charger and dock, and the battery charging chip beside it.

Third-party docks and chargers are the usual cause. If they do not follow the USB-C power standard properly they can push the wrong voltage into the console, and one or both chips fail. The symptom is a Switch that will not charge or will not turn on, sometimes with no warning beforehand.

We test the port, measure what the console negotiates with a known-good charger, and replace the failed parts under the microscope — the port, the power-delivery chip, the charging chip, or more than one of them. The Switch 2 is newer, so its board repairs are assessed case by case.

Board-level work like this is price on application: you get a fixed quote once we know which parts have failed. Repairing the board keeps your console, and with it any save data that is not backed up to the cloud.
