Signs you need this repair

  • Joy-Cons slide off without pressing the release
  • Joy-Con not detected when attached to the console
  • Rail visibly bent or the metal loose
  • Joy-Con charges on one side but not the other

What actually goes wrong

The rails on each side of the console hold the Joy-Cons and carry the contacts that charge and connect them. A drop, or a Joy-Con forced on at an angle, bends the rail or damages its contacts, and the Joy-Con stops locking or stops being detected.

We replace the console-side rail and test both Joy-Cons attached and detached. If the fault turns out to be the Joy-Con itself — its latch or its own rail — that is a controller repair, and we will tell you.
