Signs you need this repair

  • No signal on the TV when the Switch is docked
  • Dock light comes on, but nothing happens
  • Console will not charge in the dock
  • Picture drops out when the console is nudged in the dock

What actually goes wrong

A Switch that will not show on the TV can be the dock or the console. The dock converts the console's USB-C video into HDMI, and its own chip and ports can fail. But the console's power-delivery chip has to negotiate with the dock too, and when that chip is damaged the dock looks dead.

We test the console with a known-good dock and the dock with a known-good console, so you only pay for the one that has failed. If it is the dock, its board and HDMI output are repaired; if it is the console, it is the charging repair.

Avoid using unofficial docks while you wait for a repair — they are the most common cause of the console-side fault in the first place.
