- Quoted for a whole new motherboard
What actually goes wrong
A Blade packs a high-wattage GPU and processor into a thin chassis, and the power stages that feed them work hard. When one fails it usually fails short, and the Blade refuses to start at all. The rest of the board is normally fine, which is why a component repair costs a fraction of a new motherboard.
Liquid is the other common cause. The keyboard sits directly over the board, so a spill reaches it quickly, and corrosion keeps working while the battery is connected. Switch it off, do not charge it, and get it in as soon as you can.
Our specialist board-level technician diagnoses these at component level, under the microscope, in our Newcastle workshop — and board-level work can be posted to us from anywhere in the UK. It is price on application: you get a fixed quote once we know what has failed.
