MacBook Neo Keyboard Repair

On almost every MacBook of the last decade the keyboard is riveted into the top case, which means a single failed key is officially a top-case replacement — keyboard, battery and chassis in one expensive assembly. Apple did not do that here. The MacBook Neo's keyboard is a separate, removable component held in by 41 screws, so it comes out on its own. It is a longer job on the bench and a much cheaper one on the invoice, because we are replacing a keyboard rather than half a laptop.

It is also worth being honest about what usually causes this. Most dead-key faults we see are debris or a small spill rather than a failed keyboard, and both are often recoverable without a new part. We check that first. If a clean restores it, that is what you pay for.

If the whole keyboard has stopped responding while the trackpad still works, the fault is more likely to be the ribbon connection or the board than the keyboard itself. That is a different repair at a different price, which is exactly why the diagnostic comes before the quote rather than after it.
