What actually goes wrong
Legion Pro models run their GPUs at some of the highest power of any laptop, through power stages packed beside the chip. When one fails it usually fails short, and the Legion looks completely dead even though the GPU and processor are usually fine. Replacing the failed parts costs a fraction of a new board.
Before you book, unplug the charger and hold the power button for about thirty seconds, then try again with the charger connected. It clears a stuck power state. If the Legion still will not start, the fault is on the board.
