Signs you need this repair
- Plugged in but the battery never charges
- Stops at 60% or 80% and goes no higher
- The rectangular plug feels loose or only works at an angle
- Charger light on, but the laptop says not charging
- Battery drains in games even on the charger
What actually goes wrong
Check Conservation Mode in Lenovo Vantage first. It holds the battery at around 60% or 80% to slow wear — sensible for a laptop that lives on its charger, but it looks exactly like a fault.
Legions use Lenovo's rectangular slim tip connector. It is sturdier than a round barrel, but the port takes the strain every time the laptop is lifted with the charger plugged in, and a worn or cracked port stops charging or only works at an angle. The port is replaceable, and if its pads have torn on the board, they are rebuilt.
Use the wattage your Legion came with. Pro models need high-wattage chargers, and a lower-rated slim tip charger may charge the laptop at idle but will not keep up in games.
