Pick the fault and you will get the detail for that specific repair — what causes it, how we tell it apart from the faults it gets confused with, and what we actually do about it.
Dead ROGs, liquid metal shorts, failed GPU power stages and broken ports repaired on the board.
What we doThrottling, loud fans and heat shutdowns — cleaned, liquid metal or paste renewed, and worn fans replaced.
What we doNot charging, stuck below 100%, or charging from only one of its ports.
What we doThe full-size ROG machines — Strix G16 and G18, SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 — built for the highest GPU power. Most recent models use liquid metal on the processor.
The thinner ROG line. The G14 in particular packs a lot of power into a 14-inch chassis, and it can charge over USB-C as well as from its barrel charger.
The Z13 tablet and the X13 and X16 convertibles. Compact, with parts specific to each model, so we check availability before quoting.
ASUS's lower-priced gaming range — A15, A16, F15 and F16 — booked under the same category. A tougher, simpler build with many of the same faults.
The dual-screen Duo and earlier models. Still repairable, though some parts are now harder to find.
The model code (G614, GA403 and so on) is on the label underneath, or in Armoury Crate and MyASUS. Not sure? Bring it in and we will identify it during the diagnostic.
