iPhone Back Glass Replacement

From the iPhone 8 onwards the back of the phone is glass, bonded to the frame with an adhesive that does not simply peel off. Apple's answer to a cracked back has historically been to replace the entire rear housing, which means transferring every internal component into a new chassis — one of the most expensive out-of-warranty repairs there is, which is why so many people simply live with a cracked back.

There is a better way, and it is what we do: a laser separates the adhesive and the broken glass is removed from the existing frame, leaving your phone's own housing, serial number and internals untouched. A new panel goes on in its place. It takes specialist equipment rather than specialist luck, and it costs a fraction of a housing swap.

Worth doing sooner rather than later for two reasons. Cracked rear glass lets moisture past the seal, and a back that has already shattered will keep shedding fragments that work their way into the charging port and the speaker grilles. If wireless charging stopped when the glass broke, mention it — that points at the charging coil underneath rather than the glass alone, and we will check it while the phone is open.
