AirPods Pro (1st & 2nd gen)
Silicone-tipped with active noise cancellation. The tips trap far more wax and debris than open AirPods do, so cleaning resolves a surprising share of "one side is quiet" faults. The 1st gen also had a crackling and ANC fault Apple covered under a service programme that has now closed.
AirPods Max
Over-ear, and a genuinely different machine. Ear cushions, headband and internal cabling are all serviceable, which makes repair far more worthwhile than on the in-ear models.

Does Apple actually repair AirPods?

Not in the way people expect. Apple's out-of-warranty "repair" for AirPods is a replacement unit, priced close enough to a new pair that most people simply buy new ones — which is exactly why so many working AirPods end up in drawers over a dead battery in one side. We repair the pair you own.
Can you replace the battery in a single AirPod?

Yes, and it is usually the sensible thing to do, because batteries rarely fail evenly. If one side dies noticeably sooner than the other, that side is the one that needs the cell. We will tell you honestly whether the second one is close behind and worth doing at the same time.
One of my AirPods is quiet or has stopped working. Is it broken?

Often not. The single most common cause is compacted earwax and debris in the speaker mesh, which muffles one side long before anything electrical fails. A proper clean restores it. If a clean does not fix it, the fault is usually the battery or the speaker driver on that side, and both are repairable.
Is repairing them actually cheaper than replacing them?

Almost always, and by a wide margin. We give you a fixed quote after the diagnostic, so you can compare it against the price of a new pair before committing to anything. If the honest answer is that yours are not worth repairing, we will say so.
Can I post my AirPods to you?

Yes, and most of the AirPods we work on arrive that way — they are small, light and cheap to post. Our mail-in service is free both ways, tracked and insured, and covers the whole UK.
