Brand new? Read this first
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 went on sale in the UK on 7 August 2026, so it is well inside Samsung's manufacturer warranty. Manufacturing faults — dead lines on the display, a battery that will not hold charge, a camera that will not focus — are Samsung's to fix for free, and if that is what yours has we will tell you so rather than charge you for it. The warranty does not cover accidental damage such as a cracked screen or liquid unless you have Samsung Care+, and it does not cover damage caused by an unauthorised repair, which is worth weighing before any independent repair on a phone this new. On a foldable that matters twice over: if the inner screen or the hinge fails without a drop, that is a warranty conversation before it is a repair. Folding and cover screens
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 has two screens, and they are separate repairs. The 4.1-inch cover screen works like a normal phone screen and is the one exposed when the phone is closed. The 6.9-inch main screen folds, and it is by far the most expensive part in the phone. It ships with a protector fitted at the factory that Samsung says owners should not peel off; if yours is bubbling or lifting, that can be a protector job rather than a screen one, provided the panel underneath is undamaged — we check which before quoting.
Hinge and crease
The crease on a Galaxy Z Flip 8 is normal and never fully disappears. What is not normal is a hinge that has gone gritty, loose or will not hold its angle, or a line of dead pixels along the fold. Grit is the enemy of any folding hinge, so we clean before we condemn anything, and we check whether a fault along the fold is in the panel or in the protector above it before quoting.
Battery replacement
A Galaxy Z Flip 8 battery should not need replacing for years. If it drains unusually fast in its first weeks, that is usually a new phone still restoring apps and syncing, or a warranty fault, rather than a worn cell. Like every Galaxy foldable, it splits its capacity across two batteries, one in each half.
Fingerprint reader
Fingerprint unlock on the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is in the side key, not the screen, so no screen repair can affect it. A side key that has stopped reading fingerprints is a repair of its own, and we test it before we touch anything else.
Charging faults
Charging faults on the Galaxy Z Flip 8 come through its USB-C port, and the port is usually the problem rather than the board. Lint packs into the bottom until the plug cannot seat, and ports wear with every cable pulled out at an angle. If Samsung's "moisture detected" warning appears when the phone is bone dry, the port is often holding residue rather than water. A careful clean fixes a lot of these; if not, it is a port repair rather than anything more serious.
Liquid damage
Liquid damage on the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is corrosion, not just water, and it keeps spreading after the phone feels dry. Any water-resistance rating is a factory figure that weakens with every drop and every time the phone is opened, and Samsung's warranty does not cover liquid damage. Turn it off, do not charge it, and skip the rice. Cameras, speakers and buttons
Blurry or black photos, a cracked camera lens cover, muffled speakers and buttons that stop responding are all individually repairable on the Galaxy Z Flip 8. Cracked lens glass is often just the cover — a much smaller job than a new camera module — so we check which one you actually need before quoting.
